Bee Kind Honey Infusions

City: Surrey

Honey producer Beekind Honey Infusions was founded in the summer of 2019 and is run by Kirsten Brolin, daughter Kennedy Brolin, and son Connor Brolin. All of our products are crafted with love and hard work. About honey: Honey is a delicious and beneficial natural sweetener that can be added to enhance a wide variety of foods and dishes. It's mild flavour profile can also easily take on the delightful and welcome flavour of most herbs, spices, flowers, and fruit peels through the process of infusion. Infused honey also makes a great gift for the friends and families in your life. Our Process: In all of our Honey Infusions, we use a combination of techniques to infuse our honey. All of our honey is locally sourced and most of it is made by our own bee colonies that we manage. We try to use the mildest tasting honey for our infusions as that gives our flavours the most strong taste. The mild flavour of the honey allows our infusions to be noticeable, but not overpowering. We try to use local herbs and spices to infuse our honey. We only use whole ingredients and do not use any essential oils in our infusions. Ingredients can be either dried or fresh. The quicker method to infusing is to apply heat. We do this on the outstart of our infusions for the first 2-3 days. We apply only low heat, thereby not destroying the health benefits of the honey. After the heat process is done, we move on to the "slow" process of infusion; time. We let our infusions sit anywhere from 4 - 6 weeks. During this time, we'll test the infusions for taste. Once we are happy with the flavour, we then apply low heat and strain the ingredients out, leaving only the golden honey and the lovely taste of the infusion. Each batch is safety tested for moisture levels. All our moisture levels are below 17.5%, thereby making it safe for consumer consumption. Honey has an average pH level of 3.9

Burnaby Organic Greenhouse Ltd

City: Burnaby

Burnaby Organic Greenhouse Ltd was established in April, 2016 by Ivy Cheng, an experienced Professional Engineer for over 30 years, creating the brand PureLand. We conducted numerous prototypes in climate-controlled and pesticide free hydroponic greenhouse for leafy veggies and microgreens with collaboration from the University of Fraser Valley. We selected the most suitable seeds and nutrient formula for a variety of microgreens. From the successful prototypes, we used our research data to scale up our growing system, and were successful in reducing growing time to just a few days. At this time, with our super-fast cycle, we focus on growing broccoli and radish microgreens because they are the most nutritious veggies based on the study results from the University of Saskatchewan and University of Valencia.
